Edward founded JET Digital Video in early 2000 with his wife and two of their closest friends. As primary editor, he chose EditDV for his NLE. Over the course of the next year, EditDV was sold three times, it’s name was changed to Cinestream, and it soon became clear that no future updates would be available.
Searching for a replacement, Edward found “Vegas Video 2.0” in the fall of 2001. After a couple of false starts, Edward forced himself out of his comfort zone and edited the next complete project in Vegas. From that point forward, Cinestream became ancient history. Vegas reigned supreme!
Vegas Pro 4 added a new feature not found in any other NLE – Scripting! Edward has written several scripts for Vegas with the major product being Excalibur. Other scripts included Tsunami and Neon which have both been merged into Excalibur along with the free Auto Save and Project Inspector tools. Montage Magic was created to automatically add movements to slideshows and includes face detection to make the movements smart.
He has also written several customized scripts for customers such as Sony Music, Custom Channels, Christian Blind Mission International, Belle Creative, NewBlue, and many individual editors including a specialized editing script for his church. Beginning in 2020, Edward discovered that Adobe Premiere Pro also offers a scripting environment. He has currently written a private script for Premiere and is looking to do more work with Premiere scripting.
